Between islands and bases
Fifteen transport chains—each destination has its own.
Nassau is an important hub, but not every useful trip starts, ends or connects there. Search the complete chain before booking nonrefundable rooms.
1
NAS → New Providence → Paradise Island
Use a prearranged transfer or licensed taxi from Lynden Pindling International Airport; local road transport covers Nassau, Cable Beach and downtown. Paradise Island is bridge-linked, so it does not require an inter-island flight or ferry.
2
FPO → Freeport/Lucaya → east or west
Fly directly to Grand Bahama or connect by air, then use taxi, transfer or rental car. Beaches and parks east or west of the urban base require deliberate ground transport rather than an assumed resort shuttle.
3
MHH → Marsh Harbour → Abaco cays
Marsh Harbour is the primary air-and-service gateway; local ferries or boat operators continue to Hope Town, Green Turtle Cay and other cays. Coordinate arrival time with the last practical water transfer.
4
Bimini arrival → North/South Bimini crossing
Arrive by air or authorized sea service, then use the local ferry when the airport side and the North Bimini base differ. Do not schedule an immediate dive or international connection without crossing margin.
5
Great Harbour Cay or Chub Cay → local marine plan
Choose the airport or marina that matches the stay; no road links the dispersed Berry Islands. Movement among cays belongs to a qualified charter, lodge or private-vessel plan with weather contingency.
6
Correct Andros airport → correct district
North, Central and South Andros use different gateways and long ground or water links. Book the lodge or guide first, then use the airport and pickup they specify instead of selecting “Andros” generically.
7
ELH, GHB or RSD → Eleuthera road base
North Eleuthera, Governor’s Harbour and Rock Sound airports serve different sections of the long island. A rental car or arranged transfer follows Queen’s Highway; an open-jaw air plan can reduce backtracking.
8
ELH → dock → Harbour Island or Spanish Wells
North Eleuthera Airport is the usual air gateway, followed by ground transfer and a short ferry or water taxi. Harbour Island and Spanish Wells are different boat-linked destinations, not one shared road stop.
9
GGT → Great/Little Exuma → Exuma Cays
Use Exuma International Airport for the road-connected main islands around George Town. The Exuma Cays add a boat, charter flight or separate island arrival; a day boat is not the same as relocating accommodation.
10
SML or LGI → north or south Long Island
Stella Maris and Deadman’s Cay airports serve different parts of Long Island. Align the flight, rental car and property so the first and last day are not consumed by avoidable road mileage.
11
Chosen Cat Island airfield → matched base
Cat Island has more than one airfield and a long settlement road. Confirm which airport the property serves, then prearrange a car, taxi or pickup; do not assume vehicles are waiting on arrival.
12
ZSA → single San Salvador base
Fly into San Salvador and use the property or dive operator’s transfer. The island works as one focused stay; the next inter-island flight should be confirmed before adding another remote destination.
13
Rum Cay access → compliant boat to Conception
Verify current air or charter service to Rum Cay directly. Conception Island is a protected boat objective without a conventional accommodation base, requiring a qualified operator, suitable weather and same-day return plan.
14
IGA → Matthew Town → park transport
Great Inagua Airport leads to Matthew Town; park and birding visits require prearranged local transport or a guide. Protect the outbound flight with contingency time rather than assuming an easy rebooking.
15
Independent southern-island gateways
Acklins, Crooked Island, Mayaguana and Ragged Island each require a separate flight and local-transfer check. Never build a chain from map proximity alone; route through the operating air hub when necessary.
